During ArtsFest a host of family friendly pARTicipate workshops and cutting edge performances will take place at the festival’s satellite site in Edgbaston, mac Birmingham.
mac will also be bringing you a range of other activity throughout the weekend.

mac (Midlands Arts Centre)

During ArtsFest two spaces within mac will be utilised: The Performance Studio, The Hexagon Theatre and The Theatre. The technical information and facilities available within each of spaces is outlined below.
The Performance Studio:
The Performance Studio is a spacious studio with sprung floor and mirrors, for performance workshops or participatory activity with up to 25 participants. It is located on the first floor.

Saturday 8th September: 12.00 – 18.00

Stage Size:
The area measures 13 metres by 13 metres.

Staffing:
1 Customer Service Assistant will be present from mac. An ArtsFest Volunteer Venue Officer will be in charge of the venue on behalf of ArtsFest and will liaise with all artists before the event and on the day.
Additional Notes:
There are 2 changing rooms available with a maximum capacity of 10 people each. Please note that these changing rooms may be in use by more than one group at a time and artists should not assume that they will have sole access to these.
Access:
The Performance Studio is wheelchair accessible. mac has ramped access into the building both from the car park in Queen’s Ride, and from the gently sloping terrace. Disabled parking spaces are available in the free car park (owned by Birmingham City Council) next to the bridge. There is level or ramped access throughout the building and wheelchair accessible lifts to all levels. Accessible toilets are located on every level. The Theatre and Hexagon are fitted with infra–red systems and are accessible to both audiences and performers. The Cinema, meeting rooms, education studios and public areas are fitted with an induction loop. Assistance dogs are welcome and mac are very happy to provide bowls of water.
The Hexagon Theatre:
This intimate space is ideal for a small performance (comedy, music, theatre) or a spoken word piece.

Whether you are holding a large conference, in need of a performance space, or looking for a celebration venue with a difference, the expansive theatre can accommodate you. Recently upgraded, the room comes equipped with the latest in lighting and sound technology, two large dressing rooms and a rear entrance for loading.
