Opening up its doors for the public during ArtsFest, The Council House is one of the festival’s ‘Variety ArtsFest’ venues, featuring a mixture of performances, workshops , and art installations, all in a venue where they do not usually happen!

Within The Council House a number of rooms are available for both performing and visual artists to apply to present work or host workshops in.
This venue provides performing artists with an opportunity to be extremely creative with how they wish to present their work at ArtsFest. All artists are asked to explain fully the concept of what they wish to do within the building in their application. The rooms available and their dimensions are listed below. If there is a specific room that an artist wishes to use, this should be stated within the application form.
Room 1: 10 metres by 6 metres
Room 3: 9 metres by 7 metres
Room 4: 9 metres by 6 metres
HMS Daring Room: 4 metres by 5 metres
Room 6: 7 metres by 6 metres
Room 6a: 4 metres by 3 metres
The Banqueting Room: 19 metres by 9 metres
The Reception Room: 10 metres by 9 metres
The Drawing Room: 19 metres by 9 metres
The Chamberlain Room: 9 metres by 7 metres
Availability:
Saturday 8th September: 11.00 – 18.00
Sunday 9th September: 11.00 – 18.00
(Please note that these times are provisional at this stage and may be subject to change).
Equipment / Facilities Available:
- Please note that no equipment is available within the venue other than power (3 pin, 13 amp sockets), tables and chairs.
- Performing artists that wish to host work within the venue must be able to do this acoustically or provide their own portable PA system or other amplification.
Staffing:
Council House staff and the curator will assist in the venue during the ArtsFest weekend. An ArtsFest Volunteer Venue Officer will be in charge of each room on behalf of ArtsFest and will liaise with all artists before the event and on the day.
