Situated on Kingston Row between the ICC and NIA, The Flapper is one of the leading independent live music venues & pubs in Birmingham. It has been labelled by NME as ‘the epicentre of Birmingham’s Indie scene.’

The picturesque canal side pub offers two floors for entertainment: a large capacity main bar upstairs, and a gig room downstairs which has featured bands from local to national level with the likes of the Editors, Pigeon Detectives, We Are Scientists and KT Tunstall having performed there, to name just a few. Both of these spaces will be utlised during ArtsFest.

(Please note that both performance areas are raised platforms which do not have wheelchair ramp access available).

- PA is EV with a double 128 sub woofer and mid-high box each side

- 3 x active DI box

- Backline – guitar combo amplifier, bass guitar amplifier and drum kit

Staffing:

There will be a sound technician at the venue in addition to a Duty Manager and bar staff. An ArtsFest Volunteer Venue Officer will be in charge of each room on behalf of ArtsFest and will liaise with all artists before the event and on the day.

Additional Notes:

The Flapper is an over 18’s venue and no underage performers or audience members will be allowed in.

Changing facilities are not available at this venue.

Venue Access:

For artists bringing equipment or instruments with them that they wish to drop off by vehicle, they will be able to do this by pulling up in the loading bay outside the venues side entrance on Cambridge Wharf. The side entrance leads onto the back of the downstairs performance area. Space in the loading bay is limited and artists will be asked to remove their vehicle as soon as they have unloaded.

All floors in the Flapper are via stairs; however wheelchair users who are audience members can access the pub via the band loading entrance which will take them to the lower ground floor of the pub and where they will have access to the bar, toilets and courtyard / beer garden (smoking areas). There is no lift or stair lift in the venue.
