The Prince of Wales pub is located a few minutes walk from Centenary Square. The pub serves good food and real ales and provides an intimate setting in which ArtsFest visitors can watch performances during the festival weekend.

The pub’s performance area is suitable for soloists, duos and trios and applications to perform at the venue are invited from musicians, comedians and other spoken word artists.

Availability:

Saturday 8th September: 12.30 – 22.00
Sunday 9th September: 12.30 – 22.00

(Please note that these times are provisional at this stage and may be subject to change).

Stage Size:

The performance area is approximately 2 metres by 3 metres and is carpeted.

Equipment / Facilities Available:

- Small PA system (1000 watt mixer / amplifier with 8 channels for input)

- 2 × 100 watt speakers

- Portable CD player

- 2 x vocal microphones, stands and leads

- Tables & chairs

(Please note that The Prince of Wales will not have a backline, piano, projection or screening facilities available during ArtsFest).

(Groups requiring backline that wish to perform at the Prince of Wales must be able to provide their own. Groups may need to be prepared to set equipment up before the first performance off the day and break it down / collect it after the last performance of the day, depending on the time needed to set up and break down equipment).

Staffing:

In addition to the pubs duty manager and bar staff a member of pub staff will be available to set up and operate the PA system, however please be aware that this person is not a qualified sound technician. Artists who wish to perform at this venue should require only minimal technical support. An ArtsFest Volunteer Venue Officer will be in charge of the venue on behalf of ArtsFest and will liaise with all artists before the event and on the day.

Additional Notes:

The Prince of Wales is an over 18’s venue and children are not permitted inside.

Changing facilities are not available at this venue.

Venue Access:

For artists bringing equipment with them that they wish to drop off by vehicle, they will be able to do this by pulling up outside the pubs main entrance on Cambridge Street. Space here is limited and artists will be asked to remove their vehicle as soon as they have unloaded.

The venue is accessible for wheelchair users although space for movement inside the venue is tight due to its small size.
