The Yardbird Jazz Club

The Yardbird is Birmingham’s bar and live music venue pivoting on the Jazz and Funk staple. The Yardbirds concept is simple … they provide a funky and intimate place where people can hang out, watch bands and DJ’s, play, have a dance, have a bite to eat, and just generally feel enveloped in a warm and wonderful atmosphere. The venue does not have a dress code or even an ounce of pretension … just friendly faces and quality music, food and drink at very reasonable prices.

During ArtsFest 2012 The Yardbird will showcase a series of music performances that complement the ambience of the venue but which are not necessarily just jazz and funk based. Applications are invited from all music performers.

Saturday 8th September: 12.30 – 22.00
Sunday 9th September: 12.30 – 22.00

Stage Size:

The Yardbird has a good sized 5.8 metres by 3 metres stage. The stage is raised with no ramp access and so is unsuitable for wheel chair users.

(Please note that the venue will not have a piano or projection facilities available during ArtsFest).

Staffing:

There will be a sound technician at the venue in addition to a Duty Manager and bar staff. An ArtsFest Volunteer Venue Officer will be in charge of the venue on behalf of ArtsFest and will liaise with all artists before the event and on the day.

Additional Notes:

Children are allowed into the venue accompanied by an adult until 9pm at night.

Changing facilities are not available at this venue.

Venue Access:

For artists bringing equipment or instruments with them that they wish to drop off by vehicle, they will be able to do this by taking the right hand turn off Paradise Circus for The Copthorne Hotel and pulling up just after the entrance to the hotel. Please be aware that artists will have to carry their equipment up steps that run along the side of the hotel and to the entrance of The Yardbird, at the top of the steps on the left. Space is limited and artists will be asked to remove their vehicle as soon as they have unloaded and take it to an allocated car park. The main entrance to the Yardbird has full disabled access.
