Deadwax, from London, are influenced by The Beatles, Supergrass, Oasis, The Stone Roses, and BRMC. Their music has been described as ‘taking you back to the – Tripped Out 1960’s,’ and ‘putting a spring in your step, with a Lennonesque feel to it. In their short time together they have played the likes of The Camden Crawl, Proud Galleries, 100 Club, Dublin Castle and Wembley.’ Deadwax`s brand of ‘atmospheric fluorescent indie offers a well crafted arrogance for a heady concoction of Oasis forcefulness and The Verve’s penchant for a meaningful melody.’
Pre-production sessions for the record began mid 2010 and saw the band work with legendary producer Chris Kimsey (Rolling Stones). At the end of the year they entered the studio to record with Snow Patrol and Belle & Sebastian producer/engineer Phil Tyreman. With a national tour planned in the new year, 2011 is set to be a big year for the band with some cracking gigs and festivals already in the bag!
Deadwax are playing at The Great Escape festival in Brighton in May and are featuring in a new MTV show called Rule Britannia at the end of May 2011. There has been plenty of media interest in the band, from radio play to bloggers
‘I recently saw Deadwax at The 100 Club, a band truly worthy of such a prestigious stage; they were fantastic…’
