International pianist, prize winner and Birmingham favourite, Di Xiao, has been described as “a pianist of awesome gifts” and compared to Clara Schumann by the press. She has recently completed a concert series for the European Concert Halls Organisation which took her to 12 of Europe’s finest halls and included sell out recitals at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and Luxembourg Philharmonie to name but a few.
Fresh from a tour of her home country, China, and the recording of her second album, Journey, Di Xiao would like to play a very special pinao recital for Artsfest. In the fascinating ‘From Paris to Canton’ programme Di Xiao forms a bridge between Chinese and European culture by blending the piano works of Ravel, Chopin and Debussy with pieces from her homeland to create what is sure to be an Artsfest highlight in 2011.
