Greyish Quartet play entirely original music written by pianist and band leader David Austin Grey. This music, whilst set firmly in the contemporary jazz idiom, draws influences from hip-hop, rock, minimalism and modern classical music. Prepare to nod your head in appreciation to carefully constructed bass lines, rich harmonic soundscapes, beautiful melodies and strong foot-tapping rhythms. The band will be presenting their latest project entitled “The Dark Red Room”. This is a set of compositions inspired by film, photography and cinema. An album of the music will be released in 2011. Greyish Quartet have received a lot of positive feedback and support from fans as well as many key figures within the arts, now it’s your chance to see them live! The music is accessible enough for the casual listener but deep enough to satisfy the most serious jazz head. GQ’s mission…. to continue to create original music and endeavour to make strong artistic developments in the direction of jazz, and contemporary improvisation!
