Quinton Community Choir

We are a vibrant multi-generational community choir which draws together about 75 people from diverse walks of life to sing together. We perform a range of short songs, ranging from pop and gospel to world and folk music, either a cappella or accompanied by a small band. Founded in 2006, the choir is open to residents of Quinton or those with a strong connection to the area regardless of previous musical experience. There is no audition and no membership fee, although many choir members donate towards the group’s running costs. Two of our founding aims were to foster community spirit and to enhance the cultural life of Quinton and we have now performed at over 50 events, including a variety of community events in our neighbourhood. The choir has also collaborated with the former education action zone ‘Quinzone’ to organise an annual musical event with local schools, now in its sixth year and has hosted vocal workshops open to local residents and led by tutors from the group Black Voices.
