Many of us have heard folk songs about men working as sailors, soldiers and miners, but what of the women who worked as seamstresses, servants or in the textile mills? This performance by folk singer and songwriter Tina McKevitt and musician Matt Hegarty features songs about women workers and highlights the fact that women too have always worked hard at a variety of jobs (including in the home) but their work has perhaps not been celebrated to the same extent as that done by men who have generally been seen as the main breadwinners.
